About Us

Our Story

Cottonwood Baptist Church was started on September 22, 2019. We are an independent Baptist Church. We hold to the King James Bible as our guide in direction and doctrine. We believe it is vitally important for believers to actively pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which will in turn produce a desire to reach the lost sinner with the Gospel of Jesus Christ here in our local area and around the world. We also believe a personal relationship with Christ will build the believer’s desire to pursue the needs of others and effectively minister to the spiritual needs of fellow believers and non-believers through the biblical ministration of spiritual gifts. Every service that is held at Cottonwood is designed to uplift the Saviour and give Him His rightful place. We also desire to edify the believer through sound biblical preaching and teaching.

Our Pastor

Andrew Kennard

Pastor Andrew Kennard started the Cottonwood Baptist Church in September of 2019. Andrew graduated from Bible college in 2006, he served in various ministries of the local church and was hired to serve on the staff at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Longview, Texas in 2013. In June of 2016 they started the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, TX. God moved the Kennards to Kansas in the summer of 2019. Pastor Kennard likes to spend time with his wife and family, golf, take walks, and serving together in the ministries of the Cottonwood Baptist Church. Andrew & Carrie were married in November of 2008. They have two children, Clayton and Sierra.

Our beliefs

What you read here is a summarization of what we believe as a church. We believe the Bible and teach it to be without error. Every belief and teaching flows from the Bible, God’s Word.

We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and that they compose the entire Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed; and therefore, are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the official and only English-language translation used. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
